Overview:

The Mount Sinai Health System seeks a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Assistant II to provide clinical office support to physicians and surgeons at the Selikoff Centers for Occupational Health in Staten Island.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Fulfill patient care responsibilities as assigned, including performing venipuncture and/or EKGs, checking schedules, and organizing patient flow.
  • Accompany patients to exam/procedure rooms, assist with walking, transferring, and dressing, collect and process specimens, and prepare for exams.
  • Assist physicians with procedures, take vital signs, relay instructions to patients, and answer calls.

Clerical Responsibilities:

  • Send and receive patient medical records, obtain lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, and referral information.
  • Complete forms and requisitions, manage charts to ensure information is completed and filed appropriately.

Additional Duties:

  • Enter orders into the electronic medical record (EMR) system or prepare prescription refill requests on behalf of the physician.
  • Inventories, orders, or re-stocks medical supplies as applicable.
  • Maintain logging systems for refrigeration of medications, point-of-care testing, sterilization processes, and crash carts.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED with completion of an approved Medical Assistant certificate course.
  • 2+ years of experience as a Medical Assistant.
  • Certification: Medical Assistant certificate from an approved school.
  • BCLS certification – Required Issuing Authority: AHA.
