Job Summary

Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a Clinical Educator to join their team in Vancouver, BC.

The successful candidate will provide clinical education within a designated clinical program, utilizing specialized theory and knowledge, as well as teaching and learning principles and processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical education to Registered Nurses and other healthcare professionals.
  • Consult and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to promote continuous quality improvement.
  • Develop and implement educational programs and materials.
  • Assist in achieving interdisciplinary team goals.
  • Act as a clinical resource for nurses and other healthcare providers.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Three (3) years' recent related community health nursing practice with clients with complex health and social concerns.
  • Valid driver's license and personal vehicle required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Comprehensive knowledge of community nursing theory and practice.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) Standards for Nursing Practice.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of evidence-based nursing practice related to Community Health and Health education.
  • Broad knowledge of adult HIV and other risk population issues.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in client care.
  • Broad knowledge of research process and methodology.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and work direction.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and present educational programs and materials.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with, and deal effectively with, co-workers, physicians, other health care staff, clients and their families, and outside agencies.
  • Demonstrated ability to promote a supportive, creative learning environment and engage in continuous quality improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to adjust to new or unexpected events.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and prioritize work.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with and/or guide others in resolution of conflict issues.
  • Demonstrated skill in the use of medical equipment and supplies appropriate to Community Health.
  • Demonstrated skill in techniques appropriate to Health Education.
  • Demonstrated skill in CPR techniques.
  • Demonstrated physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • Basic computer literacy to operate a computerized client care information system.
  • Demonstrated ability to access computerized multi-media resources for education.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, analyze and problem solve.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
