Salary

The starting salary for this position is $22 per hour, offering a competitive compensation package that reflects your skills and experience.

Job Description

As a Mobile Equipment Maintenance Technician, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Performing routine maintenance tasks on U-Haul's fleet of trucks and trailers, including oil changes, tire rotations, and brake replacements.
  • Conducting diagnostic tests to identify and repair equipment malfunctions.
  • Using proprietary technology to assess and care for field vehicles.
  • Maintaining inventory of repair parts and ensuring all parts used are charged out.
  • Establishing an effective route in the assigned area to repair all down or inoperable equipment.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A self-starter mentality, with the ability to work independently without supervision.
  • Familiarity with diagnostic tools and a strong understanding of automotive/trailer mechanics.
  • A valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Monday to Friday availability, with some weekend shifts required.

Work Environment

The work environment is moderate-risk, requiring special safety precautions when working around moving parts, machines, fumes, or chemicals. You may be required to use protective clothing or gear such as masks, goggles, gloves, or shields.

Physical Demands

The work requires some physical exertion, including long periods of standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 pounds. You must be able to traverse spaces, reposition to reach and use tools, and move equipment as needed.
