About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Bilingual (English/French) Legal Counsel to join our team at Dentalcorp. As a key member of our legal department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the company's compliance with regulatory requirements and providing expert legal advice to our dental professionals and teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct legal research and provide support on a broad range of issues related to privacy, health law, and regulatory compliance.
  • Oversee legal matters and provide guidance to cross-functional departments on regulatory changes and best practices.
  • Review provincial standards, bylaws, and legislation to advise stakeholders on regulatory matters and pertinent legal issues.
  • Help dental professionals avoid and respond to informal and formal regulatory complaints, drafting releases and assisting with other correspondence.
  • Identify and actively manage claims to prevent lawsuits and minimize liability.
  • Work closely with our Marketing department to ensure compliance with all applicable advertising regulations.
  • Liaise with external regulatory and governmental bodies to ensure ongoing compliance in a shifting regulatory landscape.
  • Coordinate with our network of dental practices to ensure that day-to-day business activities adhere to Dentalcorp's compliance program and local standards.
Requirements
  • A member in good standing of the Law Society of Ontario, with a university degree in law (LLB or JD) and an L1 License to practice law in Ontario.
  • 2+ years' experience as a Lawyer in a regulatory body, multi-location corporation, and the healthcare industry.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written/oral communication, and time management skills.
  • Early adopter of legal technology who is up to date with the benefits of using AI.
  • Enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, meet legally mandated timelines, and handle multiple demands simultaneously.
  • Creative problem solver.
  • Excellent analytical and research skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to work autonomously with excellent judgment.
  • A team-player who is comfortable and effective in an environment where there are varied stakeholders asking for assistance.
  • Bilingual French/English is an asset.
