Maintenance Planner Job Description

Conestoga Meats is seeking a skilled Maintenance Planner to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance department, you will be responsible for planning and scheduling repairs and maintenance activities to ensure a productive workforce with minimal downtime.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Preventative Maintenance program, including updating of PMs as required and reconciling any outstanding PMs.
  • Fulfill all health and safety, CFIA, HACCP, and BRC audit requirements, ensuring documents are accurate and up-to-date.
  • Identify benchmarks for reliability and safety.
  • Participate in biweekly downtime meetings between Operations and Maintenance teams to facilitate program changes required to decrease downtime.
  • Ensure equipment certification calibration schedule is in compliance.
  • Participate in purchasing aspects of projects.
  • Provide cost estimates for projects and monitor costs against budget.
  • Support turnaround activities, planning work order timelines, and coordinating completion, monitoring costs of actual vs expected.
  • Monitor project invoice costs compared to capex projects and comparing scope of work actual and expected.
  • Daily communication with the Maintenance Inventory Control person.
  • Adjust work methods and procedures to meet production schedules using knowledge and capacity of machines, equipment, and personnel.
  • Oversee maintenance work, assigning tasks and evaluating completion by inspecting and reporting any issues to Supervisors.
  • Inspect sites and buildings to scope and plan new and ongoing maintenance work.
  • Liaise with plant stakeholders, responding to all work orders and determining priority and feasibility of requests.
  • Handle all incoming maintenance deliveries, including matching purchase orders and quantities, parts discrepancies, and distribution of orders.

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience working in a Maintenance department.
  • High school completion.
  • Technical background preferably in mechanical or maintenance fields.
  • Proficient in basic Microsoft Office programs and Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work in a team-based environment.
  • Well-developed problem-solving, decision-making, planning, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to read machine manuals, including interpreting technical instructions in either diagram or instruction form with abstract or concrete variables.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Working Conditions:

  • Office environment with occasional requirement to be present on the Kill Floor or Cut Floor and outside conditions. Must provide own transportation.
