- Fabricate and install ornamental plaster panels, cornices, and trim to enhance the visual appeal of a space.
- Position and secure drywall sheets to metal or wooden studs or joists, ensuring a stable and secure installation.
- Smooth out excess compound, allowing it to dry before applying additional coats.
- Spray acoustic or texture materials over walls and ceilings to create a unique and functional surface.
- Tape over joints using a taping machine and embed tape in compound to create a seamless finish.
- Apply stucco over exteriors of buildings to form weatherproof surfaces.
- Cut openings in lath for heating and ventilation piping, ducts, and electrical outlets.
- Install acoustic tile, hangers for suspended ceilings, and metal studs for composition wallboard or lath.
- Install corner beads and wire mesh around beams to which plaster is to be applied.
- Install exterior and interior steel studs to provide a sturdy framework for drywall or plaster walls and ceilings.
- Install metal stud framing and furring for interior drywall or plaster walls and ceilings, using hand and power tools.
- Install vapour barriers and thermal and sound insulation to enhance the energy efficiency and comfort of a space.
- Prepare wall and ceiling layouts to ensure accurate and efficient installation.
- Utilize laser alignment systems to ensure precision and accuracy in the installation process.
- Estimate costs and materials required for a project, taking into account factors such as labour, equipment, and materials.
- Work at heights, on scaffolding or swing stages, to complete tasks safely and efficiently.
- Supervision and Experience
- Supervise 1 to 2 people to ensure efficient completion of tasks.
- Require 3 years to less than 5 years of experience in the trade.
