As a Shift Supervisor with Parkland, you will be responsible for overseeing refinery operations in the Burnaby area. If you have experience in refinery operations or a similar industrial setting, we encourage you to apply.

Job Summary

The Shift Supervisor is accountable for ensuring the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of the refinery during their assigned shift. They must manage a team of operators, respond to operational issues or emergencies, and maintain compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operational Oversight: Ensure the smooth operation of refinery processes, including plant performance and yield optimization.
  • Safety Compliance: Enforce adherence to safety protocols, procedures, and regulations, identifying potential hazards and addressing them promptly.
  • Team Leadership: Lead by example, foster a culture of teamwork and accountability, guide and mentor the operations team, and provide clear instruction and feedback.
  • Emergency Response: Respond quickly and safely to operational issues or emergencies, coordinating with relevant teams to resolve incidents.
  • Communication: Maintain effective communication with other departments, ensuring seamless operations and resolving issues promptly.
  • Monitoring and Reporting: Regularly monitor plant performance, identify inefficiencies, and provide detailed shift reports to management.

Requirements

  • A valid 3rd Class Power Engineering Certificate or a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering or mechanical engineering.
  • A valid Class 5 driver's license.
  • A minimum of 5-10 years of experience in refinery operations or a similar industrial setting.
  • Proven experience in a supervisory or management role, preferably in a refinery or chemical processing environment.
  • Experience working within the framework of collective bargaining agreements.
  • Strong decision-making abilities, particularly under pressure or in emergency situations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for clear reporting and coordination with different departments.

Estimated Salary: $95,000 - $110,000 per year
