Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Specialist to join our team at the Royal Bank of Canada. As a Technical Specialist, you will play a key role in the design and development of applications using existing and emerging technology platforms.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess business requirements and recommend solutions that satisfy sponsor/stakeholder needs.
  • Develop technical solutions to achieve business requirements.
  • Lead and facilitate working sessions and business interviews to achieve clarity on various business objectives.
  • Identify and resolve business systems/technical issues.
  • Create and review technical design documents related to small projects.
  • Coordinate design phases for small projects, identifying, tracking and resolving technical issues.
  • Participate in walkthrough reviews of technical specifications, programs and unit test plans.
  • Provide estimates on activities/tasks required to perform design, coding and unit testing.
  • Performance tuning to improve performance of the single function.
  • Low-level planning of work packages meeting project objectives within budget and on time.
  • Provide third-level support of applications, databases etc.
  • Facilitate small group meetings for technical design, problem-solving and task implementation.
Requirements
  • Experience in C#/.NET, Python, SQL, UNIX/Windows OS, databases.
  • Undergraduate from a Canadian post-secondary institution with a focus on computer science, engineering, or technology.
  • Solution-oriented mindset.
  • Customer service oriented with effective interpersonal skills.
  • Leadership acumen and a passion to apply it in a dynamic business environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and highly developed communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Creative and analytical thinker who is self-driven and capable of working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong MS Office skills - Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.
