Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare consolidated financial statements by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system and from departments.
  • Filing HST/GST Returns and staying up-to-date with current tax legislation.
  • Responsible for handling tax queries and audits.
  • Involved in day-to-day accounting processes, including invoice entry, bank reconciliation, and month-end closing.
  • Performing bookkeeping duties such as monthly accounting, GST/HST, payroll, and other related tasks.
  • Analyzing information and options by developing spreadsheet reports and verifying information.
  • Preparing general ledger entries by maintaining records and files and reconciling accounts.
  • Preparing financial statements and tax returns for compilation engagements.
  • Assessing internal procedures to recommend improvements.
  • Assisting with monthly or quarterly close processes.
  • Protecting the organization's value by maintaining confidentiality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance/CPA candidate.
  • At least two years of related job experience.
  • Experience in tax, tax auditing, and online tax research tools and materials.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with the ability to learn new software quickly.
  • Previous experience with QuickBooks and Sage 300 is an asset.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel and MS Outlook.
  • Ability to process large volumes of invoices and payments while prioritizing competing tasks.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to work under tight deadlines with competing and shifting priorities.
