Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Early Childhood Educator to join our team at the Oakley Park YMCA Child Care in Barrie. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in providing a safe and nurturing environment for children, promoting their physical, emotional, and social development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality care and education to children, including planning and implementing play-based learning activities, ensuring their physical and emotional well-being, and maintaining a safe and healthy environment.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues, communicating effectively and providing regular updates on children's progress.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a cohesive and supportive team environment, sharing knowledge and best practices to enhance the quality of care and education provided.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to stay up-to-date with best practices, policies, and procedures, and to enhance your skills and knowledge in early childhood education.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of programs and services that meet the needs of children and families, and that align with the YMCA's mission and values.
Requirements
  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR (Level C) certification
  • Successful Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Up-to-date immunizations or equivalent in accordance with local public health and Child Care Early Years Act
  • Availability to work Monday to Friday, 15 hours/week, 3:00-6:00pm
  • Passion for working with children and providing quality care and education
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 20 kg, and participate in physical activities
  • Ability to work outdoors for at least 2 hours daily, in all weather conditions
  • Registered Early Childhood Educator or actively enrolled in an Early Childhood Education program
