**Job Description:**

We are seeking an Organic Chemist to join our Chemistry team. The successful candidate will carry out organic synthesis and produce molecules using various chemical and instrumental techniques, adhering to SOPs and health & safety standards, while working under minimal supervision.

The responsibilities include:

  • Planning, developing, and optimizing synthetic strategies
  • Setting up and organizing equipment and reactions to ensure safe execution
  • Developing methods for separating complex mixtures; executing advanced purification techniques
  • Performing a range of organic laboratory techniques, including oxygen and water sensitive chemistry
  • Characterizing synthesized products by interpreting spectral data
  • Reporting results and deviations encountered during synthesis, suggesting improvements to procedures
  • Presenting data in an organized and accurate fashion (verbal and written)
  • Maintaining a safe and organized laboratory environment; ensuring compliance with health and safety standards and SOPs
  • Other ad hoc duties as assigned

**Required Skills and Qualifications:**

We seek candidates with:

  • Expert knowledge of organic reactions and mechanisms
  • Strong ability to perform independent research of chemical literature
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and relevant data processing programs
  • Experience with laboratory setup/maintenance (desirable)
  • Knowledge and understanding of GMP/GLP (an asset)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • A strong initiative and can-do spirit
