Electrical Engineer Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Engineer to join our team at The Engineering Institute of Canada. As an Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and integrating electrical systems, including high voltage power distribution, low voltage power distribution, and electrical harness design.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop electrical systems, including power distribution, control systems, and electrical harnesses.
  • Ensure that electrical systems meet specified technical product demands, product safety requirements, market regulations, and relevant industry standards.
  • Analyze product requirements, concepts, and proposals to identify electrical system needs.
  • Create and maintain documentation associated with electrical systems, including product and component specifications, functional block diagrams, and detailed electrical schematics.
  • Collaborate with design team members to integrate electrical systems with other systems, such as hydraulics, structures, and mechanical systems.
  • Conduct hazards analysis and risk assessment to ensure the functional safety of electrical systems.
  • Use test equipment to measure performance and troubleshoot electrical systems.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical or related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical design and development, preferably in mobile or self-propelled equipment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of vehicle electrical and electronics, electric motors, data busses, including CAN bus (SAE J) and ISOBUS (ISO ).
  • Interest in vehicle electrification, automation, and control.
  • Knowledge of DFMEA (SAE J) and functional safety (ISO ).
  • Knowledge of related industry standards, safety, and compliance.
  • Experience with electrical CAD software, preferably Zuken.
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and successfully complete deliverables.
  • A strong technical capability and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Registration or eligibility for registration with APEGM.
