Taxation Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Taxation Specialist to join our team at Baker Tilly. As a key member of our tax group, you will be responsible for reviewing tax filings, offering tax planning services, and researching tax issues.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review tax filings to ensure all tax-related matters have been addressed
• Offer tax planning services to clients
• Research tax issues and prepare memoranda
• Identify client service opportunities
• Participate in special engagements
• Enhance existing and develop new community relationships and networks
• Manage staff in the tax group and provide daily guidance, coaching, and developing their tax knowledge
• Support and mentor firm staff in respect of tax matters
• Prepare and present technical sessions for staff

Requirements:

• 3-5 years of progressive public accounting experience with a tax specialty and a professional designation
• Bilingual is a requirement
• Successful completion or in the process of completing the CICA In-depth tax course
• Sound technical knowledge of Canadian tax-related issues
• The ability to provide value-added service to our clients
• Good technical knowledge of GAAP requirements for tax provisions
• Computer skills including Caseware and Taxprep
• Strong understanding of a client-focused environment, including related deadlines, and the ability to work to meet those deadlines
• Sound judgment regarding confidential and sensitive matters
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
• Attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong work ethic and the ability to work independently and as part of a team
