Taxation Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Taxation Specialist to join our team at Baker Tilly. As a key member of our tax group, you will be responsible for reviewing tax filings, offering tax planning services, and researching tax issues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review tax filings to ensure all tax-related matters have been addressed
- Offer tax planning services to clients
- Research tax issues and prepare memoranda
- Identify client service opportunities
- Participate in special engagements
- Enhance existing and develop new community relationships and networks
- Manage staff in the tax group and provide daily guidance, coaching, and developing their tax knowledge
- Support and mentor firm staff in respect of tax matters
- Prepare and present technical sessions for staff
Requirements:
- 3-5 years of progressive public accounting experience with a tax specialty and a professional designation
- Bilingual is a requirement
- Successful completion or in the process of completing the CICA In-depth tax course
- Sound technical knowledge of Canadian tax-related issues
- The ability to provide value-added service to our clients
- Good technical knowledge of GAAP requirements for tax provisions
- Computer skills including Caseware and Taxprep
- Strong understanding of a client-focused environment, including related deadlines, and the ability to work to meet those deadlines
- Sound judgment regarding confidential and sensitive matters
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong work ethic and the ability to work independently and as part of a team
