As a key member of our design team, you'll be responsible for the design of projects from start to finish, utilizing your technical expertise to develop comprehensive conceptual designs. Your strong communication skills will enable you to foster creativity and resourcefulness in all interactions with external and internal customers, addressing any issues or concerns that may arise during the project.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop comprehensive conceptual designs for proposed systems, including supporting design calculations, schematics, and 3rd party equipment recommendations.
  • Assist in the development of project plans, budget, resource requirements, and coordinating the efforts of the design team.
  • Work closely with Project Management to provide support, status reports, and ensure a seamless transition during the assembly build and integration phase of the project.
  • Proactively address quote deficiencies, scope creep, and changes through accepted channels.
  • Liaise with the Project Management team to ensure timely updates to the Schedule.
  • Collaborate with internal customers and external contacts to promote a collaborative and inclusive work style.
  • Evaluate various mechanical products under consideration for purchase to determine their efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Produce accurate CAD layouts, manufacturing drawings, and bills of material.
  • Review, evaluate, and improve upon engineering designs prepared by the design team.
  • Ensure that designs are safe, efficient, effective, and able to be manufactured prior to manufacturing release.

Requirements

  • Post-Secondary education in mechanical engineering or related discipline.
  • A minimum of 3 years of engineering experience in industrial automation.
  • Proficiency using Solidworks and AutoCAD.
  • Proficiency using Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Strong written and verbal skills in the English language.
