About the Role

The Nova Scotia Community College is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Maintenance Specialist to join our team. As an Electrical Maintenance Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the building electrical and cabling system.

Key Responsibilities

  • Initiate and perform inspections, repairs, and upgrades to the electrical systems at the campus, ensuring operational and functional proficiency, subject to safety and Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) requirements.
  • Supervise individuals to work safely and competently.
  • Liaise with various contractors to coordinate and oversee work on campus.
  • Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Inter-Provincial Journeyperson Electrical Construction Certification.
  • Training in WHMIS and Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
  • Minimum of two years of recent and related trade experience in a facility, commercial or industrial setting with specific experience in electrical installation and construction projects.
  • Familiarity with computer applications such as Microsoft Office Suite and inventory and work order software.
  • Demonstrated experience providing electrical maintenance duties including preventative, scheduled and restorative maintenance.

  • Excellent coordination skills specifically related to work orders and building improvement projects.
  • Dedicated to life-long learning, including maintaining currencies in the Canadian electrical Code.
  • Valid NS Driver's License.
