Job Summary

We are seeking a reliable and physically capable Metal Fabrication Assistant to join our team at RNR Steel. As a key member of our structural steel fabrication department, you will be responsible for operating metal cleaning equipment, transporting items throughout the plant, and assisting metal workers with various tasks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate metal cleaning equipment to remove excess welds, rust, and other materials from metal products
  • Transport items throughout the plant using powered equipment
  • Transport raw materials, finished products, and equipment throughout the plant manually
  • Assist structural steel and platework fitters, sheet metal workers, and metal machine operators with various tasks
  • Sort metal sheets and parts, scrap metal, and other materials
  • Grind or chip excess metal from metal products using hand tools
  • Clean machines and immediate work areas
  • Load and unload vehicles
  • Read and interpret work orders
  • Read blueprints, schemas, and drawings
  • Perform other laboring and elemental activities as required
Requirements
  • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with repetitive tasks
  • Physical stamina to handle heavy loads and stand for extended periods
  • Manual dexterity and attention to detail
  • Excellent oral communication skills
