We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Health and Safety Manager to join our team at Surespan. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of our Environmental, Health and Safety Programs.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and Implement Safety Programs: Create and execute effective safety programs that meet all applicable federal and provincial rules and regulations.
- Lead Safety Management: Provide strategic leadership to leadership teams and ensure the highest level of EHS performance.
- Conduct Audits and Inspections: Conduct internal and external audits, and inspect worksites to identify areas for improvement.
- Communicate Effectively: Communicate safety initiatives and their effectiveness to stakeholders.
- Manage Subcontractor Safety: Monitor and maintain subcontractor safety management programs.
- Organize Training: Develop and implement EHS training programs for field and office personnel.
- Research and Develop Strategies: Stay up-to-date with OHS regulations and develop strategies to adhere to new guidelines and industry standards.
- Liaise with Stakeholders: Collaborate with clients, prime contractors, and subcontractors on EHS-related matters.
- Investigate Incidents: Investigate incidents, manage incident investigation and reporting programs, and revise procedures as necessary.
- Lead Risk Management: Take a lead role in risk management, hazard assessment, and task analysis.
- Manage Safety Committee: Lead monthly Safety Committee Meetings.
- Track EHS Expenditures: Maintain current EHS statistics and track expenditures.
- Education: Completion of a diploma or degree in Occupational Health and Safety.
- Experience: Manager-level experience in safety compliance, including experience in a health and safety management role in the construction, heavy industrial sector, and mining.
- Skills and Knowledge: Solid understanding and application of Health and Safety Regulations in BC and Canada, including WorkSafeBC Regulations.
- Leadership and Analytical Skills: Strong leadership ability, sound judgment skills, and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Salary: CA$90,000-$110,000 per annum, commensurate with experience, expertise, qualifications, training requirements, and ability to fulfill all obligations.
- Vacation: Meets Provincial and Federal regulations, starting with 2 weeks.
