About the Role: We are seeking a skilled Family Assessment Specialist to join our dynamic team. In this position, you will be responsible for conducting thorough assessments of families who are seeking to become kinship caregivers, foster parents, private guardians or adoptive parents.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct in-depth interviews with adults and children to gather information about their family dynamics, trauma, child development, and therapeutic issues.
  • Review files and complete reference checks to ensure a comprehensive understanding of each applicant's situation.
  • Engage in consultations with supervisors to discuss complex cases and develop strategies for assessment and evaluation.
  • Write and edit SAFE home studies, ensuring that they are accurate, comprehensive, and meet the required standards.


Requirements: To be successful in this role, you will need a Social Work Degree or equivalent, 3 years of experience working in the human services sector, and registration as an RSW (Registered Social Worker) or with a professional body. Additionally, you should have strong assessment skills, the ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and excellent writing and communication skills.
