Job Description:

The Development Engineering Technician role at Magellan Aerospace is an exciting opportunity for individuals who want to design and develop gating systems for achieving metallurgically acceptable castings to customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design gating systems to achieve metallurgical acceptable castings to customer specifications
  • Perform solidification modeling and analysis using MAGMA software
  • Provide technical support to customers on the design of new casting designs for producibility
  • Liaise with customers and tooling suppliers
  • Collaborate with manufacturing quality technicians on metallurgical and tooling issues
  • Ensure that new tooling produces castings that meet customer requirements
  • Travel to customers and suppliers as required
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Post-secondary education in mechanical or metallurgical engineering from a recognized university or college
  • 1-3 years' experience working in a manufacturing environment (preferably)
  • Experience with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and metal solidification simulation software (MAGMA)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and other common desktop applications
