About the Role

The Government of Nova Scotia is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sentence Administrator to join our team at the Central Nova Scotia Correctional Facility in Burnside. As a key member of our Correctional Services Division, you will be responsible for the administration and operation of community and custody-based programs and services for individuals in custody and young persons.

As the Sentence Administrator, you will report to the Manager of Sentence Administration and be responsible for documentation of all admissions, releases, court appearances, transfers to other provincial and federal facilities, and fines within the Correctional Facility. You will also input and keep information relating to individuals in custody in the Justice Enterprise Information Network (JEIN).

This is a permanent opportunity that requires a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and strong organizational skills. You will work closely with video court staff, Court Services, Admission & Discharge staff, Justice Centre, and Sheriff Services staff to ensure all parties are aware of potentially high-risk situations.

We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in the criminal justice field, preferably with experience in Corrections, Court Services, policing, or experience working in a law office. You must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work harmoniously as a member of a team.

This role requires a high level of self-motivation, initiative, and organizational skills to effectively handle multiple tasks and high-volume workloads. You must also have the ability to work with highly confidential records and information.

We offer a competitive salary range of $1,864.26 - $2,189.32 bi-weekly, as well as a comprehensive benefits package, including a defined benefit pension plan, health, dental, life insurance, and employee and family assistance programs.
