Stamping Engineering Specialist

At Halliwell Consulting Corp, we have an exciting opportunity for a skilled Stamping Engineering Specialist to join our team in Brantford, Ontario.
Estimated Salary Range: $70-75K per annum, depending on experience
Job DescriptionThe successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining plant programs related to Transfer Presses, Blanking Presses, Hot Stamping Robotic Transfer Presses, and Laser Cutting Cells. This includes support for repair, managing new projects, and equipment from design to production phases to ensure maximum production, quantity, and quality.
Duties and Responsibilities- Identify and Drive Continuous Improvement Plans: Ensure overall equipment performance (quality, health and safety, efficiency, and reliability) by identifying areas for improvement and driving plans to implement changes.
- Troubleshoot Issues: Investigate and resolve issues with equipment, implement countermeasures, and improve processes to minimize downtime and optimize production.
- Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Engage with the Engineering and Management team to prioritize work, from research and development to design and manufacturing, ensuring seamless execution of projects.
- Investigate and Propose Cost-Effective Modifications: Research and propose modifications to improve machine reliability, health and safety, product quality, and throughput, ensuring cost-effectiveness and optimal results.
- Write Technical Specifications: Create detailed technical specifications for procurement of equipment, tooling, and utilities, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
- Lead Design, Construction, Acceptance Testing, and Installation: Oversee the design, construction, acceptance testing, and installation of equipment and tooling, ensuring adherence to project timelines and budgets.
- Define Operating Process Parameters: Establish process parameters for equipment and tooling, ensuring optimal performance and minimal waste.
- Maintain Documentation: Participate in maintenance documentation, including spare part lists, preventative maintenance schedules, troubleshooting guides, and lockout procedures.
- Manufacture Prototype Parts: Collaborate in the manufacturing of prototype parts and communicate lessons learned to inform future projects.
- Program Equipment: Program all equipment in Stamping for new dies and part set-ups, ensuring efficient production processes.
- Automotive, Stamping, or Manufacturing Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in the automotive, stamping, or manufacturing industry.
- Cross-Functional Team Collaboration: Proven ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams, including engineering and management.
- Technical and Analytical Skills: Strong technical and analytical skills for problem-solving, with the ability to operate various machine tools and equipment.
- Leadership and Communication Skills: Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to lead design, construction, and installation projects.
- Tool and Die Maker Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Tool and Die Maker, with expertise in troubleshooting and problem-solving.
- Engineering Background: A solid understanding of mechanical and electrical principles, with hands-on experience in a stamping environment.
- MS Office and AutoCAD Skills: Intermediate MS Office skills, with AutoCAD skills being an asset.
