Trade Supervisor, Paint

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Trade Supervisor, Paint to join our team at Seaspan Vancouver Shipyards. As a key member of our painting operations team, you will be responsible for leading a team of tradespeople and overseeing the completion of trade activities within the shipyard.
Key Responsibilities- Lead a team of tradespeople and coordinate the completion of trade activities within the shipyard.
- Ensure projects are completed efficiently, safely, and in compliance with all regulations and company standards.
- Implement and carry out Seaspan's health, safety, environmental, and quality processes on the shop floor.
- Deliver product and customer quality standards.
- Collaborate with management to establish daily and weekly goals and hold employees accountable for performance.
- Partner with the Workforce Development Team to ensure trade employees have the skills, equipment, training, and certifications required to perform planned work activities.
- Red Seal Journeyman Painter or combination of paint-related certifications (e.g. NACE, SPCC).
- Minimum 5 years of related trades work experience outside of trades apprenticeship or educational program.
- A minimum of an additional 3 years of previous supervisory experience in a heavy industrial environment, preferably unionized.
- Dedication to safety and quality, with experience in the application of behavioral-based safety.
- Proficient knowledge of trade responsibilities specific to heavy manufacturing/shipbuilding (welding, metal fabrication, electrical, pipefitting, paint/sandblasting, mechanical, rigging, etc.).
- Strong written, verbal, and electronic communication skills.
- Time management and organization skills with a proven dedication to follow-up and follow-through.
- Ability to empower others, lead change, have difficult conversations, and coordinate discipline when required.
- Conflict resolution and negotiation skills to resolve disagreements quickly and successfully.
