The Passages Program

The Passages Program is a six-bed live-in program for youth aged 13 to 17 who have status with Children's Services. The program offers a recreation, life skills, and relationship-based approach, with an average stay of 6-12 months. Our goal is to collaborate with the youth and their supports to identify strengths and areas of growth, resourcing, and skill development to support successful transitions back to their family or into a less intrusive placement.

The Role of Youth and Family Support Practitioner

The Youth and Family Support Practitioner provides supervision and support to young people residing in the program, ensuring treatment plans are implemented. All workers are expected to assist with daily household routines, chores, minor facility maintenance, and direct youth support. This role requires good working knowledge of computer programs and basic office applications for administrative tasks and case management.

Key Responsibilities and Requirements

  • Develop strong relationships with youth and their families.
  • Collaborate as a team player to create a supportive environment.
  • Adapt to changing situations and demonstrate flexibility.
  • Utilize effective communication and de-escalation skills.

Education and Experience

To be considered for this opportunity, applicants should have a degree or diploma in the Human Service field, experience working with youth in a group living environment, awareness of trauma-informed practices, and professionalism, reliability, and ability to work independently.

Additional Qualifications

  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR C certification.
  • Current Criminal Record Check with a Vulnerable Sectors Designation.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clear driving record.
