Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer to provide technical leadership and oversight for product developments through the design process. This role will ensure that product design requirements are clearly communicated and understood by project teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a direct engineering liaison to Project Leaders and New Product Development (NPD) Engineering Managers to document all technical issues for NPD Designers.
  • Conduct advanced risk assessment and mitigation planning for future design work, collaborating with Project Leaders and Engineering Managers to ensure tasking and critical path are established.
  • Create, check, and approve Engineering Designs, Test Reports, Instructions to Service, Shop Floor Instructions, and other documents as authorized.
  • Participate in training and monitoring employee performance.
  • Work with Service Manager/RPSM/Vendor to expedite problem-solving and subsequent engineering releases related to field buses, ensuring final results are applied into NPD design releases.
  • Responsible for Performance of FMEA and Hazard Analysis exercises.
  • Supports review of bid documents such as customer specifications, technical summaries, supplier quotations, approved equals, and others for appropriate interpretation and compliance.
  • Consults on project design reviews and creates technical documents such as instructions to service, Shop Floor Instructions as authorized.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering discipline or equivalent.
  • Minimum five years electrical design-based knowledge related to essential functions in vehicle architecture related to software.
  • Proficiency in Unigraphics or equivalent 3D CAD modeling software is an asset.
  • Familiarity with software development, control system design principles, and advanced electrical design.
  • Must possess PLC and advanced programming language knowledge.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple concurrent projects.
  • Experience in research and development or manufacturing will be considered an asset.

Compensation Package

The estimated annual salary range for this position is between $90,000 - $120,000 depending on experience. The package also includes benefits such as ongoing employee development through in-house training initiatives and tuition subsidies for courses at outside institutions.
