Senior Legal Counsel

As a key member of Trench Canada's Legal Counsel team, you will serve as the primary point of contact for all legal-related matters in Canada and the US. Your responsibilities will encompass two production facilities in Scarborough and Pickering, a greenfield investment in the US, and a new assembly facility in GTA. You will ensure compliance with applicable processes, directives, policies, contracts, and laws. Additionally, you will provide guidance and improve legal & commercial practices, processes, templates, tools, policies, and directives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Drafting, reviewing, analyzing, and negotiating contracts and other legal documents.
  • Supporting the business in all legal and contractual matters, including claim management and dispute settlement.
  • Defining targeted Terms & Conditions (T&Cs) and ensuring transparency of T&Cs and related risks in the organization, with appropriate risk mitigation and/or provisioning.
  • Managing all corporate affairs of Trench Canada.
  • Collaborating with the Global Compliance Officer on all compliance matters of Trench Canada.
  • Engaging external law firms as needed.
  • Designing and delivering legal training to the business.
  • Improving contractual documentation and knowledge management to protect the company's interests.
Requirements:
  • A university degree in law with a focus on contract or business law.
  • Qualified to practice law in Canada, with additional legal experience in the US being an asset.
  • Fluency in English is required, with knowledge of other languages, especially Portuguese, being an asset.
  • At least 3 years of in-house experience, ideally at an industrial manufacturing company.
