Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Boiler Technician to join our team at Johnson Controls International. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of industrial boilers and related systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, maintain, and repair industrial boilers and related systems, including wiring, firing, and testing.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning and inspecting equipment, to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot boiler system issues, using knowledge of PLCs, transformers, transmitters, and other controls.
  • Wire all controls and motors for water tube and firetube boilers and auxiliary equipment.
  • Familiarize yourself with condensate tanks and deaerators, and read and understand wiring diagrams and schematics.
  • Troubleshoot, fire, and set combustion on all types of boilers, and determine valve trim, regulator size and spring, oil gun length and size, and all other parts and accessories needed to fire any boiler.
  • Fire and set combustion on the oiler with all types of pneumatic controls, and fire and set combustion on the oiler with all types of electrical controls.
  • Maintain condition of and inventory of all tools and monitors, and apply intellect, creativity, adaptability, judgment, and management skills to achieve required results.
  • Ensure duties and company projects are accomplished in an efficient and cost-effective manner, and support other technicians and management with internal and external projects.
  • Adhere to company policies, and work both in a team and independent environment.
Requirements
  • Must be able to read and work from schematics.
  • Class A Gas ticket.
  • Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Must have a broad knowledge of boiler controls including Autoflame, Honeywell, Fireye, and Siemens.
  • Mechanical and electrical background is a must.
  • Must have the ability to troubleshoot boilers and auxiliary equipment.
  • Must be able to retrofit control systems in the field.
  • Must have the ability and knowledge to troubleshoot systems with no schematic.
  • Five years' experience in electrical, control, and boiler field.
  • Backflow testing certificate is an asset.
What We Offer

Hourly rate of $46.63, determined by UA Local 170 CBA/rate sheet. Benefits are provided through the union aligned with a collective bargaining agreement. Overscale may be offered to qualified candidates.
