About the Role

The Inspector (Prc/Aerospace) plays a crucial role in ensuring the highest quality standards are met in the aerospace industry. Under the general direction from the Center Manager, the Inspector executes activities associated with incoming and outgoing related processes, including part-time evaluation of specimens with laboratory equipment.

Responsibilities

  1. Contract Review and Communication: Review contracts, maintain clear communication (written & verbal), and respond to customer emails.
  2. Packing, Shipping, and Receiving: Pack and ship materials, unpack orders, and enter data into the system, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  3. Lab Work and Testing: Prepare and evaluate coated specimens, including adhesion testing, hardness testing, surface, microstructure, and thickness testing via XRF and/or calo wear scar.
  4. Quality Support: Ensure compliance with internal system requirements, ISO9001, NADCAP, AS9100, and customer requirements, supporting quality initiatives and continuous improvement.
  5. Defect Detection and Reporting: Identify and document part defects, pass/fail inspections, and collect, collate, and report data as required.
  6. Maintenance and Housekeeping: Perform general maintenance of lab areas and equipment, maintaining a high level of good housekeeping in accordance with 5S standards.
  7. Equipment Safety and Procedures: Safely operate equipment within the lab, following procedures and work instructions.
About You

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented individual with:

  • Excellent Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to read and understand specifications, blueprints, procedures, and standards.
  • Mechanical Aptitude: Mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn.
  • Industry Experience: Previous experience (3+yrs) in automotive, aerospace, precision manufacturing.
  • Laboratory Safety: Understanding of standard laboratory safety procedures, including the handling of lab chemicals.
  • Computer Software: Familiarity with standard office computer software, including word, excel, email, and powerpoint.
  • Precision Measuring Instruments: Experienced with the use of precision measuring instruments, including micrometers and verniers.
Assets

The following skills are considered an asset:

  • Laboratory Environment: Familiarity with a laboratory environment and capable of learning standard aspects of metallographic analysis.
  • PVD Coatings: Experience with preparation and micro-structural analysis of PVD coatings (or similar).
  • Advanced Techniques: Experience with advanced techniques, such as surface-profilometry, XRF, and Image Analysis systems.
  • Quality Control Systems: Experience with quality control systems, including ISO, NADCAP, etc.
