Job Title: Maintenance Assistant

The Manitoba government is seeking highly motivated individuals to work within the Asset Management Division of Consumer Protection and Government Services. This role involves performing a variety of tasks relating to the operation and maintenance of government facilities, including office buildings, housing units, and correctional centres.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Performing preventative and corrective maintenance activities inside and outside of buildings
  • Maintaining heating and cooling equipment
  • Assisting tradespersons and grounds keepers
  • Performing daily checks, inspections, and preventative maintenance on life safety systems
  • Helping maintain client relations
Requirements:
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Must possess and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check
  • Must possess a valid Class 5 Driver's Licence and be able to work in other locations within the Division as needed
  • Must be physically capable of performing the duties of the position
  • Must be able to work overtime, including evenings and weekends
Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated experience with general building, grounds, and equipment maintenance
  • Knowledge of workplace health and safety policies and legislation
  • Ability to analyze and problem solve
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Verbal and written communication skills
