The Registered Nurse (RN) is a key member of our care team, responsible for coordinating and supervising the activities and duties of those who deliver direct resident care. As a leader in our nursing team, you will be the role model and team player who ensures the highest quality of care for our residents.
Responsibilities- Assess residents' needs and implement individualized care plans to maximize their quality of life.
- Supervise and direct the work of care staff, ensuring that residents receive the best possible care.
- Administer medications and treatments as per established standards and regulations.
- Coordinate and supervise wound management, including assessment, treatment, and documentation.
- Provide direct care to residents as needed and liaise with other disciplines and departments to ensure quality-focused resident care.
- Communicate effectively with physicians, community agency representatives, families, visitors, and volunteers.
- Support the move-in process and work collaboratively with other team members to ensure a smooth transition for residents.
- Attend care conferences and ensure that residents' rights are observed and respected.
- Maintain a safe environment for residents, family, and staff by following infection control procedures and reporting any necessary repairs.
- Perform community audits and correlate data to submit to the Director of Care or designate.
- Participate in the orientation of new employees and provide educational material and direction on procedures to clinical staff.
- Actively participate in community programs, meetings, committees, and educational in-services.
- Graduate of an approved program for Nursing and holds a current license with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) as an RN.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing an asset.
- Valid Occupational First Aid Level 1 certification and CPR.
- Successful annual Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) competency testing.
- Previous experience in a long-term care facility an asset.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently and understand verbal and written instructions.
- Computer skills including the ability to navigate basic computer programs such as Word, Excel, Outlook.
- Ability to push, pull, stoop, crouch, lift, and carry up to 25 lbs.
