About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Personal Support Aide to join our team at Caringpeople Healthcare Inc. As a Personal Support Aide, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and support to our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accompany patients on outdoor recreational activities to promote physical and mental well-being
  • Assist with cleaning, sterilizing, and setting up medical equipment to maintain a safe and hygienic environment
  • Perform other duties related to patient care and comfort, such as bathing, dressing, and grooming
  • Take patients' vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, and pulse
  • Deliver messages, reports, and specimens between departments to ensure seamless communication
  • Make beds and maintain patients' rooms to promote a clean and comfortable environment
  • Supervise patients' exercise routines to promote physical activity and mobility
  • Administer suppositories, colonic irrigations, and enemas as needed
  • Maintain inventory of supplies to ensure adequate stock levels
  • Transport patients between care facilities and provide wheelchair or stretcher assistance as needed
  • Answer call signals to determine patients' needs and respond accordingly
  • Collect specimens and prepare patients for surgery by washing, shaving, and sterilizing operative areas
  • Administer first aid in emergency situations to ensure patient safety
Requirements
  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
  • 5 years or more of experience in a related field
  • Participation in a government or community program or initiative that supports newcomers and/or refugees
  • Recruitment of newcomers and/or refugees who were displaced by a conflict or a natural disaster
  • Provision of diversity and cross-cultural training to create a welcoming work environment
  • Participation in a government or community program or initiative that supports youth employment
  • Participation in a government or community program or initiative that supports Veterans
  • Participation in a government or community program or initiative that supports Indigenous people
  • Offering mentorship, coaching, and/or networking opportunities for Indigenous workers
  • Development and maintenance of relationships with indigenous communities, indigenous-owned businesses, and organizations
  • Provision of cultural competency training and/or awareness training to all employees
  • Facilitation of access to Elders who can offer support and guidance to Indigenous workers
  • Participation in a government or community program or initiative that supports mature workers
  • Participation in a government or community program or initiative that supports members of visible minorities
  • Application of hiring policies that discourage discrimination against members of visible minorities
  • Offering mentorship programs that pair members of visible minorities with experienced employees
  • Provision of diversity and cross-cultural training to create a welcoming work environment for members of visible minorities
