Job Summary:

Prairie Mountain Health is seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist Assistant to provide support to our licensed Respiratory Therapists. As a key member of our team, you will assist with a variety of tasks, including equipment cleaning and calibration, blood gas analysis, and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist Respiratory Therapists with cleaning, circuiting, and calibrating equipment
  • Perform blood gas analysis under the direct supervision of a Respiratory Therapist
  • Troubleshoot equipment to minimize downtime
  • Coordinate with Respiratory Therapists to pick up and deliver equipment to various locations
  • Order stock and non-stock supplies and equipment
  • Maintain records and inventory lists for respiratory equipment and supplies
  • Perform spirometry tests on in-patients upon completion of the Resptrec spirometry course

Requirements:

  • Completed Grade 12 (MB Standards)
  • Successful completion of year three of an accredited Respiratory Therapy Educational Program or registry eligibility with the Canadian Board of Respiratory Care
  • University-level science courses preferred
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Previous experience working with Respiratory Therapists or with Respiratory equipment preferred
  • Knowledge of the physiological, social, cultural, and economic aspects of patient care
  • Proficiency with Microsoft programs and Internet applications
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to work independently
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Demonstrated flexibility to facilitate changes in techniques and procedures
  • Demonstrated knowledge and competence of skills and concepts related to the position
  • Demonstrated communication skills
  • Ability to respect and promote confidentiality
  • Ability to perform the duties of the position on a regular basis
  • Ability to respect and promote a culturally diverse population
