Respiratory Therapist Assistant

Job Summary:
Prairie Mountain Health is seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist Assistant to provide support to our licensed Respiratory Therapists. As a key member of our team, you will assist with a variety of tasks, including equipment cleaning and calibration, blood gas analysis, and troubleshooting.
Responsibilities:
- Assist Respiratory Therapists with cleaning, circuiting, and calibrating equipment
- Perform blood gas analysis under the direct supervision of a Respiratory Therapist
- Troubleshoot equipment to minimize downtime
- Coordinate with Respiratory Therapists to pick up and deliver equipment to various locations
- Order stock and non-stock supplies and equipment
- Maintain records and inventory lists for respiratory equipment and supplies
- Perform spirometry tests on in-patients upon completion of the Resptrec spirometry course
Requirements:
- Completed Grade 12 (MB Standards)
- Successful completion of year three of an accredited Respiratory Therapy Educational Program or registry eligibility with the Canadian Board of Respiratory Care
- University-level science courses preferred
- A combination of education and experience may be considered
- Previous experience working with Respiratory Therapists or with Respiratory equipment preferred
- Knowledge of the physiological, social, cultural, and economic aspects of patient care
- Proficiency with Microsoft programs and Internet applications
- Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to work independently
- Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Demonstrated flexibility to facilitate changes in techniques and procedures
- Demonstrated knowledge and competence of skills and concepts related to the position
- Demonstrated communication skills
- Ability to respect and promote confidentiality
- Ability to perform the duties of the position on a regular basis
- Ability to respect and promote a culturally diverse population
