Job Description

Job Title: Controls Engineer

Location: Oshawa, ON

Contract Duration: 11 months

Raise is seeking a skilled Controls Engineer to join one of our top clients. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to work with a leading company in the industry.

Summary:

The Controls Engineer will be responsible for designing and implementing control systems, providing technical support, and ensuring the safe and efficient operation of production processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and implement control systems, including PLC programming and HMI design.
  2. Provide technical support to production and maintenance teams, troubleshooting equipment and process failures.
  3. Identify and execute projects to improve safety, quality, cost, and reliability.
  4. Review equipment operation and reliability, developing tracking methods as needed.
  5. Ensure new and existing equipment meets operational requirements and standards.
  6. Maintain current knowledge in fields of expertise, updating management on emerging trends and legislative requirements.
  7. Design and manage key strategic interfaces within systems, enabling component reuse and consistency.
  8. Provide support to other specialists for root cause analysis and design tests to find opportunities for design improvements.
  9. Identify and document system vulnerabilities, crafting mitigation action plans and tracking corrective actions.
  10. Engineer and design pneumatic, electrical, and hydraulic piping diagrams, as well as electrical control panels and programmable logic controller software.
  11. Travel to plant sites as required.
Requirements:
  1. PLC programming and troubleshooting experience.
  2. Knowledge of conveyors, welding, and robots (Fanuc specifically).
  3. Bachelor's Degree in a technical field.
  4. 2-4 years of Controls and automation experience, with a preference for 3-4 years in the automotive industry.
