Senior Infrastructure Migration Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Sr. Infrastructure Engineer to lead a complex migration project for our public sector client.

The successful candidate will be responsible for migrating existing in-house DNS services and data to a third-party application, ensuring minimal disruption to operational services.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Migrating Windows DNS services for a designated set of devices into the selected third-party application.
  • Providing expert advice on the decommissioning process for existing Solaris servers and migration to Linux-based servers.
  • Assessing and advising on the migration or retirement of custom Perl scripts currently running on Solaris servers.
  • Migrating custom applications currently running on the BMC Remedy platform to the BMC Helix.
  • Offering in-depth analysis and advice on data transformation and migration strategies supporting the Remedy-to-Helix transition.
  • Collaborating with vendors to determine appropriate data mapping, transformation strategies, and development methodologies for existing BMC Forms.
  • Thoroughly analyzing existing DNS data to support planning activities, ensure data integrity, and optimize deployment sequences.

Deliverables include:

  • Comprehensive electronic and/or hard copies of all project-related materials, including technical and data architecture, migration plans, and documentation.
  • Ensuring all documentation is clear, detailed, and sufficient for ongoing maintenance and future reference.

Knowledge Transfer and Capacity Building:

  • Ensuring a seamless transition of services, providing expert advice, and enhancing the knowledge base of internal staff.

This is a 6-month contract opportunity.

We are looking for a highly skilled engineer to lead a complex migration project.
