Job Title: Senior Electrical Inspector

As a Senior Electrical Inspector with The MEARIE Group, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our electrical distribution systems. This position requires a strong understanding of electrical and civil inspection services, as well as the ability to coordinate and direct projects with external utilities, contractors, and internal departments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform electrical and civil inspections to ensure compliance with Alectra specifications, standards, policies, and design.
  • Coordinate and direct projects with external utilities, contractors, and internal departments to ensure project construction complies with specifications, standards, policies, and design procedures.
  • Attend site meetings and hold work permits on job sites when required.
  • Access energized transformers, switchgears, and obtain hold-offs when required.
  • Perform and document contractor safety audits.
  • Inspect, manage, and document the performance of contractors while installing, maintaining, or working near the distribution plant.
  • Responsible for a working knowledge and understanding of safety legislation, EUSR rules, Alectra policies, and procedures, and make all efforts reasonable to work in accordance with and ensuring work is done in compliance with the appropriate safety legislation.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies:
  • Successful completion of Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent.
  • Journeyperson Powerline Technician certificate or Journeyman Underground Power Cable Technician or equivalent.
  • Certified in the Utility Safety Rules and Utility Work Protection Code.
  • Requires working knowledge of the OHSA, O.Reg. 22/04, Alectra Construction Verification Program, and other safety-related regulations.
  • Electrical knowledge.
  • Strong understanding of ESA rules and regulations as applicable to the construction and maintenance of electrical distribution systems.
Experience:
  • Minimum five (5) years related experience.
  • Three (3) years Journeyman experience preferred.
Skills/Abilities/Competencies:
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Must hold and maintain a valid class G driver's license.
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics and civil drawings.
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills with co-workers and members of the public to achieve positive outcomes for the company.
Working Conditions:
  • Work involves considerable levels of unpleasant conditions or hazards, resulting in moderate discomfort or risk of danger - work is performed predominately outdoors.
