Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Airport Ground Crew Member to join our team at Strickland's Auto & Gas. As a key member of our airport operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient handling of cargo and passenger baggage.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive and Operate Ramp-Servicing Vehicles and Equipment: Safely operate and maintain various types of vehicles and equipment used for ramp servicing, including forklifts, baggage carts, and other specialized equipment.
  • Load Cargo and Passenger Baggage Efficiently: Load and unload cargo and passenger baggage from aircraft, ensuring that it is properly secured and handled to prevent damage or loss.
  • Sort Cargo and Passenger Baggage According to Instructions: Sort and route cargo and passenger baggage according to airline instructions, ensuring that it reaches its destination on time and in good condition.
  • Position Passenger Loading Stairs and Operate Aircraft Cargo Doors: Position and operate passenger loading stairs and aircraft cargo doors, ensuring that passengers and cargo are safely loaded and unloaded.
  • Co-ordinate Activities with Other Work Units or Departments: Co-ordinate activities with other airport departments, such as air traffic control, security, and customer service, to ensure seamless airport operations.
  • Ensure Smooth Operation of Computer Equipment and Machinery: Ensure that all computer equipment and machinery used for ramp servicing is properly maintained and functioning correctly.
  • Unload, Sort and Route Cargo and Passenger Baggage: Unload, sort, and route cargo and passenger baggage to their designated destinations.
  • Transport Freight Between Aircraft and Airport Warehouse: Transport freight between aircraft and the airport warehouse, ensuring that it is properly handled and stored.
Requirements
  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • Work Site Environment: Outdoors, at heights.
  • Weight Handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
  • Experience: Experience an asset.
  • Language: English.
  • Work Hours: 35 to 40 hours per week.
