MPA Recruitment is seeking a seasoned professional to fill the role of Chief Cost Management Strategist for a leading real estate and infrastructure consultancy in Toronto.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead high-profile projects with a team of 5-10 members, driving strategic decision-making and cost optimization.
  • Prepare accurate cost estimates using measurement software, adhering to CIQS Rules of Measurement and industry standards.
  • Conduct thorough analyses of contract bids, quotations, and specifications to estimate material, labor, and equipment costs.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure cost-to-complete assessments and work-in-place evaluations are accurately represented.
  • Provide proactive cost management advice, ensuring clients understand report content and implications.
  • Craft estimates at various design stages, from conceptual to pre-tender, facilitating informed decision-making.
  • Maintain quality assurance and quality control of cost management reports, guaranteeing accuracy and transparency.
  • Analyze cost variances between estimate stages, identifying areas for improvement and optimizing strategies.
  • Prepare change order review analysis and lifecycle cost estimates, supporting business growth and profitability.
  • Develop technical components and fees for proposals, demonstrating expertise and value proposition.
  • Oversee workload coordination and resource allocation, empowering team members to excel.
  • Foster collaboration with department directors to develop strategies, manage budgets, and evaluate processes.
  • Promote business growth through networking, cross-selling, and relationship building.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in cost management, estimating, or quantity surveying.
  • University degree or equivalent in Architectural Building Technology, Estimating, Quantity Surveying, Finance, Construction Engineering, or Project Management.
  • Professional qualifications: PQS and/or MRICS.
  • A minimum of 5 years of management and leadership experience, with a proven track record of success.
  • Participation on Professional Boards is highly regarded.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Cost X, Planswift, or relevant estimating software.
  • Thorough knowledge of specialist consultant reports and their impact on development proposals.
  • Deep understanding of the construction industry, including development, contracting, and consultant services.
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills, with a focus on collaboration and teamwork.
  • Ability to build strong relationships across all levels, responding effectively to stakeholder requests.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, producing high-quality work and meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent time management skills, prioritizing tasks and achieving goals.
  • Self-motivated, with integrity, honesty, and ethics guiding personal and professional conduct.
  • Eligibility to work in Canada or pursuing a work permit.

The compensation package includes a competitive salary range of $200-230k per year, based on experience and qualifications. The position also offers discretionary annual bonuses and performance-based pay increases.
