Crop Farm Labourer Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Crop Farm Labourer to join our team at Sandhills Seed Potatoes Ltd. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the cultivation and harvesting of potatoes and other crops.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Apply the technique of hoeing between rows to maintain crop health and prevent weeds from growing.
  • Clean the crops to ensure they are free from debris and contaminants.
  • Grade vegetables and fruits into different grades according to size, shape, colour, and volume to maximize market value.
  • Clean the work area to maintain a safe and efficient working environment.
  • Load, unload, and transfer crates, supplies, and farm produce, livestock, and poultry as required.
Work Environment:

The successful candidate will work in a rural area, outdoors, and in a dusty environment. The work will be physically demanding, requiring the ability to handle heavy loads and work in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements:
  • No degree, certificate, or diploma is required, but experience is an asset.
  • The ability to distinguish between colours, manual dexterity, and hand-eye coordination are essential.
  • Standing for extended periods, bending, crouching, and kneeling are also required.
  • A large workload and overtime may be required.

The primary language of work is English.

This is a permanent position.

Hours:

The successful candidate will work 40 hours per week.
