Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Packaging Development Specialist to join our team at Cosmetica Laboratories. As a key member of our packaging development department, you will be responsible for proposing new packaging solutions for turnkey projects and assessing packaging components for functionality, automation, and product interactions.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams to manage the packaging component development and assessment process from start to finish. This includes primary components, secondary printed components, and tertiary packaging requirements. Your expertise in structural design and print management will be essential in creating effective packaging solutions that meet our clients' needs.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Liaise between Product Development, Production, Sales, Project Management, Research & Innovation (R&I), Plant Engineering, Quality, and Procurement on all component and packaging related issues.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to propose and assess components/packaging for design, functionality, and suitability for use on current and proposed manufacturing lines.
  • Manage client expectations for secondary printed components' print quality and colour management.
  • Conduct color and structural evaluations on packaging using established tests methods and equipment.
  • Provide expertise and assistance to QC, engineering, and R&I to solve component, product, and/or equipment related issues.
  • Support QC and Procurement in resolving component related issues with suppliers and clients.
  • Engage component and packaging vendors for turnkey options to deliver to client briefs.

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in Packaging/Mechanical Engineering, College degree in Packaging Technology and/or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 2-5 years related work experience in Manufacturing, Manufacturing Engineering, or Packaging Environment including component supplier manufacturing knowledge, and plant manufacturing experience.
  • Must be self-motivated, detail-oriented, a team player, able to multi-task and meet required deadlines.
  • Proficient in MS Office suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Proven client engagement and relationship management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal/written) and interpersonal skills.
