We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team as a Specialist in Stress Analysis. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting stress analysis using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for nuclear systems/components through the Detailed Engineering phase.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated exceptional results in engineering projects, be a team player with strong communication skills, and possess a solid understanding of solid mechanics and material science. Experience with FEA software such as ANSYS Mechanical, Creo Parametric, or other 3D modeling tools is highly desirable.
Main Responsibilities:
- Conduct stress analysis using FEA for nuclear systems/components through the Detailed Engineering phase.
- Prepare stress analysis calculations, analyses, and assessment documents for piping, pressure vessels, and in-core components.
- Assess structural integrity risks and optimize mechanical design and performance using FEA results.
- Communicate and work with various technical disciplines to understand interfacing system design(s) and interfacing requirements.
- Coordinate and interface with the plant layout lead in the development of 3D CAD models and 2D engineering drawings.
- Contribute to timely resolution of mechanical design challenges and address risks.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or Nuclear Engineering.
- PE Certification.
- Minimum 5 years of work experience in mechanical and thermal stress analysis using FEA software.
- Knowledge of nuclear and/or non-nuclear pressure boundary codes.
- Advanced knowledge of ANSYS Mechanical, Creo Parametric, or other 3D modeling and FEA software.
- Strong understanding of solid mechanics and underlying material science.
