Job Title: Energy Market Analyst

Castleton Commodities International is a leading global energy commodities merchant and infrastructure asset investor. As a trader, CCI deploys capital on a proprietary basis in the physical and financial commodity markets, providing the Company with market insights and access. As a strategic investor and developer, CCI leverages its market expertise, operations capabilities, and industry knowledge to invest in, and develop, select commodity infrastructure assets.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing in-depth analysis of North American energy markets, primarily focused on the US natural gas market. They will report directly into the Head of Fundamental Gas and be responsible for creating and maintaining fundamental supply and demand models, as well as pricing valuation models. The results of these models will be used to facilitate trading decisions and contribute to the desk's PnL and trading activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of the natural gas market and its dynamics
  • Perform market research and analysis to support trading activities
  • Apply advanced statistical techniques to market valuations and risk management
  • Track and benchmark performance of supply/demand models and trading strategies
  • Design and develop data visualizations for efficient and detailed analysis
  • Examine unconventional data sources to augment existing modeling
  • Manage the desk's web-based analytical tools and contribute to the development of new models
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistical Modeling, Applied Math, Economics, Physics, or related field
  • Excellent understanding of probability, statistics, and microeconomics
  • Strong programming skills in Python and experience with creating visualization tools
  • Passion for financial markets and modeling, with a continuous thirst to expand knowledge
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and execute projects efficiently in a team environment
