Job Summary:
This is a specialized clinical position that provides addictions, concurrent, and withdrawal management treatment services to individuals and/or family members. The successful candidate will be an integral member of an interdisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive assessment, treatment, and follow-up services in the context of an integrated mental health and addictions ODT team process.
- Provide referral and follow-up for clients to outside agencies both within and outside of the province.
- Accept referrals from various providers and provide necessary liaison pertaining to treatment planning.
- Consult with other professionals and community groups regarding programming and treatment issues.
- Support self-help, consumer, and caregiver initiatives.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Social Work Degree, Masters in Clinical Psychology or Graduates Degree in a Clinical Discipline.
- Eligibility for registration with a professional regulatory body.
- 2 years current experience (within the last 5 years) in an addictions and/or mental health setting.
- Demonstrated knowledge relating to withdrawal management, stabilization, and harm reduction strategies including Opioid replacement therapies.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience of professional addictions and concurrent disorder, Best Practice Standards as it relates to assessment, treatment, planning, counselling, and evaluation.
- Demonstrated ability in interviewing and crisis intervention techniques.
- Demonstrated analytical, as well as, oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated independence, initiative, and ability to work with others.
- Consistent demonstration of the core values of NL Health Services: Innovation, Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence (I CARE).
- Use of a private vehicle and valid driver license are a condition of employment.
- Satisfactory Record of work performance and attendance is required for this position.
- A satisfactory certificate of conduct from the RCMP or local police authority.
Working Conditions:
This is a regional position, reporting to the Regional Manager of mental health & Addictions. The successful candidate will be expected to travel throughout the region as deemed necessary and will provide health promotion and prevention services based on a population health approach.
