We are seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Technician to join our team at Fraser Health Authority. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and effective management of medications for our patients.
Key Responsibilities- Process clinically reviewed and approved medication orders for distribution to patients, clients, or residents.
- Receive prescriptions from practitioners and verify their completeness and authenticity.
- Prepare and process prescriptions by entering orders, counting, measuring, packaging, or re-packaging medications and compounding sterile pharmaceutical products according to established procedures.
- Ensure the accuracy and completeness of dispensed prescriptions prepared by yourself or others.
- Process prescriptions for temporary inpatient leaves of absence by reviewing, translating, and converting existing inpatient medication orders previously reviewed and approved by a pharmacist.
- Enter and ensure the accuracy and completeness of drug and personal health information in the pharmacy information system.
- Transfer prescriptions to and receive prescriptions from other pharmacies.
- Maintain accurate records, including medication verification and quality assurance checks.
- Distribute medications and maintain relevant inventory, wardstock, and narcotic records.
- Maintain inventory and wardstock levels, fill wardstock and narcotic requisitions, and identify outdated drugs to be returned or destroyed.
- Perform related clerical duties, such as keyboarding, answering the telephone, filing, and maintaining medication and prescription records.
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- A Grade 12 education and graduation from an accredited Pharmacy Technician program or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Current practicing registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the College of Pharmacists of British Columbia.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to keyboard and operate related equipment.
