Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Technician to join our team at Fraser Health Authority. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and effective management of medications for our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Process clinically reviewed and approved medication orders for distribution to patients, clients, or residents.
  2. Receive prescriptions from practitioners and verify their completeness and authenticity.
  3. Prepare and process prescriptions by entering orders, counting, measuring, packaging, or re-packaging medications and compounding sterile pharmaceutical products according to established procedures.
  4. Ensure the accuracy and completeness of dispensed prescriptions prepared by yourself or others.
  5. Process prescriptions for temporary inpatient leaves of absence by reviewing, translating, and converting existing inpatient medication orders previously reviewed and approved by a pharmacist.
  6. Enter and ensure the accuracy and completeness of drug and personal health information in the pharmacy information system.
  7. Transfer prescriptions to and receive prescriptions from other pharmacies.
  8. Maintain accurate records, including medication verification and quality assurance checks.
  9. Distribute medications and maintain relevant inventory, wardstock, and narcotic records.
  10. Maintain inventory and wardstock levels, fill wardstock and narcotic requisitions, and identify outdated drugs to be returned or destroyed.
  11. Perform related clerical duties, such as keyboarding, answering the telephone, filing, and maintaining medication and prescription records.
Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A Grade 12 education and graduation from an accredited Pharmacy Technician program or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Current practicing registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the College of Pharmacists of British Columbia.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to keyboard and operate related equipment.
