Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Radiological Technologist II to join our team at BC Children's Hospital. As a key member of our Diagnostic Imaging department, you will be responsible for performing radiographic examinations, preparing patients for procedures, and ensuring the highest level of patient care and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform radiographic examinations, observing departmental standards and routines, and ensuring patient safety and comfort during procedures.
- Prepare patients for examinations, including ensuring proper gowning, explaining procedures, and answering patient and parent questions.
- Process images, checking for technical and diagnostic quality, and storing images using appropriate equipment.
- Prepare contrast agents, tray setups, and other necessary materials for procedures.
- Assist radiologists in fluoroscopic procedures, preparing patients, positioning them, and ensuring proper equipment usage.
- Perform forensic radiography examinations as directed.
Requirements
- Certification with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT).
- Two years of recent pediatric experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification - Basic Life Support (BCLS) level.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the standards of practice and guidelines for Medical Imaging practitioners established by the CAMRT and/or other relevant national professional associations.
- Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based practice related to designated modalities.
- Demonstrated knowledge of organization policies, procedures, and standards of care.
- Demonstrated knowledge and practice of safe work procedures with radiology equipment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of research process and methodology.
- Demonstrated knowledge of PACS/Radiology Information Systems, digital imaging, image archiving, and retrieval.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, coworkers, physicians, and other healthcare staff.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively with others.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and establish workload priorities in collaboration with others.
- Demonstrated ability in CPR techniques.
- Demonstrated computer skills with current computer applications.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
- Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada.
- Knowledge of social, economic, political, and historical realities impacting Indigenous communities and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism and accompanying reports.
