We have also constructed, operated, and maintained the Fredericton Moncton Highway.

Job Overview

We are currently seeking a Senior Project Cost Estimator to join our Cross Fraser Partnership team, working on the Fraser River Tunnel Project. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in preparing accurate bid costs using Hard Dollar estimating software.

This position offers an exciting opportunity to engage with one of the most ambitious infrastructure projects in the country, including the GO Rail Expansion-On Corridor Project, the Scarborough Subway Extension Stations, Rail, and Systems Project, and the transformative Pape Tunnel and Underground Stations section of the Ontario Line.

Main Responsibilities
  • Accurately prepare bid costs using Hard Dollar estimating software.
  • Analyze documents, drawings, specifications, and proposals to ensure thorough pricing preparation.
  • Conduct site visits prior to price preparation to gather essential information.
  • Collaborate with operations staff to obtain necessary input.
  • Perform quantity take-offs from construction drawings where applicable.
  • Support the process of obtaining pricing from suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Formulate costs for tender submission, including labour, equipment, material, rentals, and subcontracts.
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of risks relevant to the scope of works priced.
  • Ensure seamless handover processes upon project award.
  • Maintain accurate files and correspondence on active and completed tenders.
  • Assist with Post Bid/Post Project Analysis completion and facilitate knowledge sharing.
  • Comply with estimating procedures and maintain consistency.
  • Nurture positive relationships with clients, consultants, and key subcontractors.
  • Protect proprietary information at all times.
  • Maintain estimating data systems to ensure they remain up-to-date.
Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred.
  • 6-10 years of progressive estimating experience in heavy civil construction, track, highway, tunnel, or related disciplines is required.
  • Knowledge and/or experience of the highway industry and/or marine works environment is preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access) is essential.
  • Estimating software experience is required, ideally using Bid2Win.
  • An understanding of site conditions impacting bid costs and constructability is essential.
  • Knowledge of various types of construction contracts, particularly Cost Reimbursable, Target, and Guaranteed Maximum Price, is required.
Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $130,000-$170,000 CAD per year, exclusive of bonus. This figure may vary depending on the candidate's experience and geographical location. Listed compensation is in addition to our extensive employee benefits program. Availability of certain benefits may vary based on the specific job role.
