Salary and Benefits

The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary of $100,000 per year, with opportunities for overtime pay and a company-sponsored pension plan up to 5% of salary. Additionally, we offer dental care and on-site parking.

 

Job Description

As a Senior Machine Designer at ProVantage Automation, your primary focus will be on analyzing, conceptualizing, and designing production machinery and solutions. You'll work closely with our sales team during the concepting phase to assist in solution applications. Your creative mind will thrive in this role, where you'll have the freedom to try new ideas and think outside the box.

The machines we design range from small special-purpose assembly machines to large converting machines, requiring an analytical mind and knowledge of various motion methods (electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic). A deep understanding of Design for Manufacture/Maintenance is essential. You'll perform engineering calculations related to strength of materials, speeds, horsepower, pressure, and force as they relate to machine designs.

A strong background in mechanical engineering is required, with experience in machine design of converting equipment or packaging machines. Proficiency in Motion Analyzer software is an asset. Self-motivation and discipline are crucial, as you'll work on multiple projects simultaneously.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • 8+ years' experience in machine design of converting equipment or packaging machines
  • Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, with SW expertise
  • Ability to conceive designs for movement, translation, and processing of paper products and all types of packaged goods
  • Perform engineering calculations related to machine designs
  • Proficiency using Motion Analyzer software (an asset)
  • Ability to travel (domestic and international) up to 25% of the time
  • Self-motivated and disciplined to time commitments while working on multiple projects
  • Knowledge of estimating (an asset)
