Activity Worker II

We are seeking a skilled Activity Worker II to join our team at Heritage Village in Chilliwack, BC. As an Activity Worker II, you will be responsible for carrying out established resident activity programs, organizing leisure activities, and supporting clients to acquire, develop, and enhance recreational skills.
Responsibilities- Carry out established resident activity programs such as arts and crafts, sports, woodworking, cooking, gardening, and exercises.
- Set up and organize furnishings and equipment for activity projects, teach the techniques of related activities to residents, and oversee the residents' activities.
- Arrange outings by contacting appropriate groups, obtain tickets, and ensure accessibility of venues.
- Provide direction to volunteers during activity programs and demonstrate related techniques as required.
- Transport residents by operating the wheelchair van, conduct pre-trip checks, load and secure wheelchairs, drive the van, and arrange for gas fill-ups.
- Purchase necessary supplies for activities in consultation with the Recreation Therapist, maintain inventory of equipment, tools, and materials, and report problems to the Recreation Therapist or Plant Services.
- Maintain work areas in clean condition and store all equipment and supplies appropriately.
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- Grade 12, completion of recognized recreational courses, and two years' recent, related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Successful completion of Food Safe Level 1.
- Valid class IV driver's licence.
