Job Title: Senior Tech Artist

At Hothead Games, we're seeking a highly skilled Senior Tech Artist to join our team. As a key member of our creative team, you'll be responsible for delivering high-quality visual effects and lighting solutions for our games.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with Creative Directors, Supervisors, and Leads to ensure all visual elements meet the desired look and delivery.
  • Create and design complex lighting setups, look development assets, animation files, and FX elements.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Technical Artists, and fellow artists to craft immersive experiences for our users and clients.
  • Identify and communicate problematic shots and sequences that may affect delivery schedules to Production, Leads, and Supervisors.
Requirements:
  • Minimum + years of experience in VFX and Gaming, with strong knowledge of Maya and Nuke.
  • High proficiency in major D software such as Unity/Unreal, Maya, DS Max, Z-Brush, and Substance Painter.
  • Console experience is a must, with mobile experience a nice to have.
  • Ability to create engaging worlds full of life and personality, with a strong technical understanding of memory budgets and game pipelines.
  • Lighting and real-time lighting pipelines, rigging, and animation expertise.
  • Strong understanding of compositing and rendering methods, as well as shading models.
  • Provide technical direction on the technical success parameters in the performance/quality equilibrium of lighting and rendering.
  • Work with Graphics engineers to debug and improve lighting quality and renders stability.
  • Create and maintain onboarding and technical documentation for the department.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Professional experience prepping and delivering assets in Unity or other D engines.
  • Substance designer and level design or layout experience.
  • Advanced level of understanding of compositing and color theory.
