About the Role

The Facility Technician is a key member of our team, responsible for performing preventative and corrective maintenance, routine and on-demand services on facility mechanical and electrical equipment and systems for multiple facilities. This role requires a strong focus on ensuring the efficient operation of our facilities, while maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform work in accordance with established processes and practices
  • Comply with all internal and external requirements, including environmental, health and safety, and fire protection
  • Perform regular facility and facility non-technical component monitoring and inspection
  • Provide observations about facility and facility non-technical component conditions and deficiencies, and suggest enhancements and repairs
  • Monitor assigned facilities by conducting facility walkthroughs, facility non-technical component monitoring and inspection
  • Respond to routine and on-demand service requests
  • Perform preventative maintenance and repair work to non-technical components within the facility
  • Record resolution data within the service maintenance management database, ensuring work completed meets quality, contract response, and all other requirements
  • Assist in the implementation of preventative maintenance (PM) programs, ensuring deficiencies are identified, recorded, and escalated, and related documentation is maintained
  • Participate in and assist with facility-related projects
  • Ensure work is performed in compliance with corporate and legislated policies, procedures, practices, and guidelines related to environmental, health and safety, fire protection, and other applicable requirements

Requirements

  • High school education
  • Minimum 1-3 years of facility operations and maintenance work experience
  • Trade-related training an asset
  • Ability to adhere to and properly execute processes and practices relating to facility operations and maintenance
  • Ability to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair non-technical facility components
  • Ability to provide observations about facility conditions and deficiencies, and suggest enhancements and repairs
  • Ability to research, learn, and gain greater proficiency in applying on-the-job fire, life, safety, and building codes and standards
  • Possesses a strong environmental, health, and safety mindset, with the ability to perform work in a safe manner
  • Strong client-service orientation, along with a high sense of urgency
  • Effective communication skills for data relay, exchange, feedback, and clarification

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrates an interest in enrolling and completing a trades certification or license, or beginning to work towards a trades certification or license
  • Valid driver's license
