Job Summary:

The University of Toronto invites applications for a Research Associate (Limited Term) position in the Aspuru-Guzik group. The successful candidate will work on designing, developing, and analyzing novel quantum algorithms for solving complex problems in simulating quantum systems and linear algebra.

About the Role:

The candidate will be responsible for leading and participating in the design, development, and analysis of novel quantum algorithms for quantum chemistry, partial differential equations, Hamiltonian simulation, and quantum linear algebra problems. They will also research and explore new approaches in quantum computation and quantum software development, collaborate with a cross-functional team, and assist in the compilation, analysis, and reporting of research findings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and analyze novel quantum algorithms for quantum chemistry, partial differential equations, Hamiltonian simulation, and quantum linear algebra problems.
  • Research and explore new approaches in quantum computation and quantum software development.
  • Collaborate with a cross-functional team to analyze and optimize quantum algorithms.
  • Assist in the compilation, analysis, and reporting of research findings.
  • Prepare manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed publications/journals.
  • Present findings at local, national, and international conferences.

Requirements:

The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with a specialization in quantum computing. They must also have 2-3 years of postdoctoral experience in quantum computing, leading experience in the design and analysis of novel quantum algorithms, and evidence of collaboration with a cross-functional team.

Skills:

The candidate must have excellent communication skills, be able to work independently, and have extensive coding skills in Python and Mathematica. They must also have prior experience working with software and libraries for compiling and analyzing quantum algorithms.
