About the Role

As a key member of the AWS Platform engineering team under our DPE Engineering Team, you will be responsible for driving the design and implementation of best-in-class AWS infrastructure to support State Street's security, governance, and workload requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build robust, scalable, and secure technical solutions on the AWS Cloud.
  • Work with platform architects to define component responsibilities, plan component evolution, and ensure components meet platform needs.
  • Be responsible for AWS network engineering and support.
  • Develop scripts to automate the deployment of and management.
  • Utilize native AWS services to meet the firm's technology and resiliency requirements.
  • Drive Identity and access, and configuration management, and monitoring strategy for AWS.
  • Support operational activity to ensure quality and timely delivery of service to cloud tenants.
  • Create automation scripts for all phases of SDLC.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues reported by monitoring systems and submitted through the ticketing system of fully documented issues, actions taken, and steps for resolution.
  • Perform other tasks as defined, planned, and approved by team lead.
  • Partner with enterprise network team to ensure our cloud to on-premise networks are resilient and high performing.
  • Serve in an on-call rotation one week out of the month, covering a 6:00 am to 6:00 pm shift in case of major incidents needing support.

Requirements

  • Solid working experience on AWS IAAS for enterprise enablement.
  • Automation-focused and engineering mindset.
  • Network engineering skills.
  • Experience with design and development of solutions across on-prem and the cloud for large enterprises.
  • Strong understanding of cloud-native design patterns and DevOps principles (Infrastructure as Code).
  • Openness and ability to learn new skills and technologies in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated and passionate individual, team player, ability to effectively communicate ideas and escalate issues across teams in a timely manner.
  • Bachelor's degree in any engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of IT experience in a hands-on role with 3+ years of experience designing and supporting AWS environments.
  • Understanding of Agile delivery process required.
  • Experience in developing business applications in Java/J2EE, CICD, SDLC tools/Processes.
  • Deep understanding of AWS IAAS, PAAS, and SAAS solutions along with cloud-native design patterns and DevOps principles (Infrastructure as Code).
  • Appropriate certifications are strongly preferred, demonstrating an understanding of core infrastructure concepts as well as data and/or DevOps principles.
  • Deep understanding of cloud computing technologies with demonstrated hands-on experience in one or more of the following domains: Core IaaS: Compute, Storage, Networking, High Availability; AWS PaaS Services: AWS Kubernetes Service, Event Hub, etc.; Data Platform and Bigdata: SQL Server, AWS SQL DB, AWS Stream Analytics, AWS Data Factory/Data Bricks.
  • Strong programming and scripting background in languages such as shell scripts, Python, Java, etc.
  • Experience in designing, coding, and deploying CloudFormation templates.
  • Ability to develop and document deliverables compliant with established company design control and regulatory statutes.
  • Experience with AWS Governance and Best Practices (AWS Policy, Role-Based Access Control, Networking Architectures, CSA's CCM, Cost Management controls, etc.).
  • Working proficiency and communication skills in verbal and written English.
  • Authentication protocols in AWS, Windows, and Linux.
  • SSL communication.
  • Automated unit and integration testing.
  • Financial services or regulated industry experience a huge plus.
